Very little is known today about writer Myla Jo Closser, other than that she was born in 1880, was the wife of playwright Tarkington Baker, and the cousin of writer Booth Tarkington. At the Gate was originally published in The Century Magazine, and has been republished in numerous anthologies, including Emily Dorothy Scarborough’s definitive Famous Modern Ghost Stories.
