JEFFREY JOHANNES

Jeffrey began copying the Sunday funnies at an early age, and in junior high school he received a “D+” in algebra because he spent more time drawing cartoons than paying attention in class. He started teaching high school art in 1974 and claims he “has the gray hairs to prove that he has been working hard at it for nearly thirty years.” His award-winning artwork has been displayed in shows throughout the Midwest.
In addition to painting, he is now writing poetry and playing Native American flute, and is expecting to see these creative journeys merge. His love of Walt Disney and surrealism is evident in his Lovecraft piece, and he considers this work “a new beginning toward illustrative art.” Jeffrey's paintings were featured in Rosebud 26.
