CARLO VERGARA

Carlo Vergara is a comics creator living in the Philippines. His gay superhero graphic novel Ang Kagila-gilalas na Pakikipagsapalaran ni Zsazsa Zaturnnah won a National Book Award from the Manila Critics Circle, while its musical adaptation is scheduled to run onstage in February 2006. Carlo started writing his own comics professionally in 2001 with the drama One Night In Purgatory, though he has been drawing comics since 1993. Primarily a graphic designer by profession, he has spent most of his career in public relations and marketing communications, and has also dabbled in acting for theater and teaching in the university classroom. His comics adaptation of Captain Blood marked Carlo’s Graphic Classics debut, and his first work to be published in the U.S.
