TREVOR VON EEDEN Trevor Von Eeden was born in Guyana in 1959, and moved to New York City in 1970. At age 17, he became DC Comics’ first black artist – and one of the youngest they’d ever hired. He co-created Black Lightning, DC’s first black superhero to have his own book, and is known for his work on Batman, Green Arrow, Black Canary, and a 1984 mini-series called Thriller. Since 2001, Trevor has illustrated a series of short stories, Joe in the Future, for Heavy Metal Magazine. He recently finished writing and drawing The Original Johnson, a biography of boxer Jack Johnson (IDW Publishing, 2010), and in 2011 designed and illustrated a series of superhero comics produced for the National Hockey League by Stan Lee. See more work on Trevor’s official website. African-American Classics: Coming in December 2011
